The 3rd Annual Pink 13.1 event, presented by Ballad Health and Johnston Memorial Hospital, held on Saturday, October 21 on the scenic Virginia Creeper Trail in Abingdon, Virginia, was an astounding success, with nearly 100 dedicated participants traveling from as far away as Texas, Nebraska, and New York to join in the fight against breast cancer.
This year’s event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including Ballad Health, Johnston Memorial Hospital, 5 Points Creative, Food City, and Pfizer. Together, we have raised almost $100,000 to support the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation’s (VBCF) mission to empower Virginians impacted by breast cancer through access, advocacy, education, and community action.
The funds raised at the Pink 13.1 event will directly benefit the VBCF’s Southwest Virginia Screening and Diagnostic Service Fund, which provides essential breast health services to individuals who may not otherwise have access due to financial constraints. The generosity of participants, sponsors, and donors has made it possible for the VBCF to continue its vital work in the region and provide support to those affected by breast cancer.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of Pink 13.1,” said Susan Mole, VBCF Board Member and Volunteer Chair of Pink 13.1. “The overwhelming support we received from the community, sponsors, and participants is a testament to the collective dedication to fighting breast cancer and improving the lives of those affected. The $100,000 raised will make a significant difference in our mission to provide breast health services to those in need.”
