The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF) is proud to recognize Dr. Nadia Blanchet as the recipient of the 2024 Sherry Kohlenberg Healthcare Service Award. This award is presented annually to honor a Virginian employed in the healthcare field who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to improving the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
Dr. Nadia Blanchet is a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at VCU. She completed medical school at NYU, general surgery residency at VCU, and plastic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2016, she won the VCU Teaching Award and has consistently been voted one of the best plastic surgeons in Richmond from 1999 to 2024. Blanchet is also a contributing editor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – the official journal of the American Plastic Surgery Society – and was awarded the 2023 Regional HCA Atlantic Division First Humanitarian Award.

VBCF established the Sherry Kohlenberg Healthcare Service Award in memory of Sherry Kohlenberg, a healthcare administrator and co-founder of the organization, who passed away from breast cancer in 1993. This award celebrates healthcare professionals who exhibit a deep commitment to the fight against breast cancer. Dr. Blanchet exemplifies these values through her tireless work to improve outcomes and provide hope for breast cancer patients and their families.
