VBCF is, once again, publishing a statewide calendar full of activities, educational opportunities, and events held by many different organizations, but all focused at raising awareness of breast cancer issues during the month of October. We hope that you will have an opportunity to participate in some of the planned activities and will help spread the word. We also hope that you will help educate and advocate for breast cancer issues, by whatever means possible -- in your family, your neighborhood, your workplace, your faith community, and anywhere else you happen to be. |

| Have October Declared Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Your Community | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Educate and Advocate in your local community by getting
a Breast Cancer Awareness Month Proclamation from your local government.
Ask the Mayor or Board of Supervisors’ Chair to sign a proclamation for the month of October using our sample proclamation. Find out what night it will be presented and take breast cancer survivors and advocates to the meeting. Make sure the elected officials know why you are there! Notify VBCF so we can send a representative if possible. Notify the media once the proclamation is made. Ask them to do a follow up article. If they need additional information, have them contact VBCF. Have a copy of the proclamation and any news coverage received sent to VBCF. Download a sample proclamation: PDF | Word Document |
