VBCF is comprised of individuals diagnosed with breast cancer, family members, friends, healthcare professionals and others.

A letter from VBCF President, Gay Rudis
Since 1991, the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation has served as an important resource for people affected by breast cancer. Why is the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation important to me? Because my life has been touched by breast cancer several times. Through my own journey, I have met many wonderful women and men that have been impacted by this disease. And while I am truly grateful for the advances that have been made, too many of my friends have lost their battle.
Breast cancer first touched my life in 1973 when my mother was diagnosed at the age of 48. At that time her treatment consisted of a radical mastectomy followed by radiation. Her surgeon told us that he “got it all”. For three years she fought her battle, which included disabling lymphedema. My mom lost her battle in May 1976. Her treatment choices were few and little information was available. Breast cancer was a secret not to be shared outside the immediate circle of family and friends.
Advocacy, Speakers Bureau & Volunteer Training
VBCF will be hosting a series of regional trainings for potential volunteers who are interested in advocacy and education.
Trainings will be held in the Richmond, Tidewater, Blue Ridge, and Northern Virginia areas.
The morning will include advocacy basics and the afternoon will include Stay Abreast Speaker's Bureau training as well as general volunteer training for those who wish to volunteer at community activities and health fairs. The trainings will be free and lunch will be provided.

Financial Sponsorship Available for Educational Conferences & Events
The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF) is now accepting financial sponsorship applications for educational conferences and events. As part of our sponsorship program, VBCF will pay for 2/3 the cost of hotel and transportation for all approved VBCF members.
Education is a vital part of our mission. VBCF invites members to take advantage of the financial sponsorship program and attend a conference or event this year. VBCF benefits from having educated, informed members like you!
